The Sharadin Art Building, 15200 Kutztown Road

WHO:

All B.F.A. students currently enrolled at Kutztown University are invited.

WHAT IS IT?

  1. Artists (that’s you!) will check in at 6:00 pm (please be on time!)
  2. All artists who signed up will receive a bag of assorted art supplies.
  3. At 6:30 a “prompt” will be revealed.
  4. You will have 2 hours to create a work of art inspired by the prompt.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

KU’s Department of Health and Wellness has received a small grant for a community-building event geared to artists. We realized there are very few events that involve ALL the students in Sharadin. This night will be time to create, talk, share experience, activate your artistic superpowers, and make new friends.

DETAILS:

WHAT MEDIUM CAN I WORK IN?
A kit of canvas, paint, markers and brushes will be provided, but you may bring ADDITIONAL supplies as long as they fit inside a backpack or tote bag. There is no limit to the size or type of work you make – 2D, 3D, or any combination. There will also be an “unconventional materials” table where supplies will be available. Collage and 3D work will be permitted.

WHERE WILL THIS TAKE PLACE?
We will have space set up in the hallways and classrooms of the second floor in Sharadin. If you want a quiet place to work you can have one. You will have plenty of room to work. You may work alone or with others in collaboration.

CAN I USE A COMPUTER OR A CAMERA?
You may use a computer or phone for reference but all artwork must be created by hand. Unfortunately, we will not have the resources to make photographic prints during the competition, BUT if you have original photos you want to use to collage or work with you may bring them.

WHAT ELSE WILL BE GOING ON?

  • There will be food, coffee and a DJ.
  • At 7:30, non-artist /observers will be admitted who may walk around and watch you at work.
  • At 8:30, time will be called, and your work should be up on the wall.

WHAT CAN I WIN?

Everyone who enters receives a free art supply kit and chance to win prizes.
