MFA Graduate Research Project | Kate Foley, Cabowldle

Kate’s bold, playful design aesthetic reflects her mission to not take life seriously, and to create joy wherever she can. She’s inspired by street art, delicious food, fashion magazines, and various designers and illustrators. Kate pursued her MFA to advance her career opportunities and broaden her design portfolio. When she’s not working or designing, one can find Kate enjoying a beverage on the rooftop of a Philadelphia restaurant, or on the couch next to her husband and dog, solving a logic puzzle. And as a Cleveland native, she still argues that Lebron James is the greatest athlete of all time.

For many people, healthy food isn’t an option. The cost of goods has risen, food deserts are a growing problem, and working families often just don’t have the time to cook a balanced, healthy meal. And while fast food chains offer a convenient bite for a quick buck, consumers continue to grow weary of the health effects and ecological consequences they present. That’s where Cabowldle comes in. No more shopping at expensive stores to get the nutrition you need, and no more waiting in long lines to get a simple salad. Just drive up, make your order, and we’ll do the rest. It’s fresh, faster. The overall goals of Cabowldle are to show how a globalized brand can bring more cultural awareness to Western society as well as demonstrate how an American brand can highlight other cultural design aesthetics.

More Work by Kate

Green Aisle Cannabis Co.:

Studies show that those who struggle with pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and epilepsy all find relief from cannabis use. And while the average cannabis user is a forty-something-year-old man, adolescents and seniors also stand to benefit immensely from marijuana products.

However, several factors, including legality, stigma, and lack of information can make it difficult for these populations to acquire the natural remedies they need to find comfort. Green Aisle Cannabis creates safe, reliable products for the most vulnerable cannabis users. That’s why every packaged product contains heat-sensitive ink that reveals an authentication code, in addition to a thorough product facts label, so the only thing your loved ones have to worry about is feeling better.

Tarot Vogue:

Tarot Vogue is a collection of the Major Arcana in a standard tarot deck design in a collage style. Each card comprises elements from a different luxury fashion brand. This project is a tribute to my first memories of collaging as an adolescent with old Teen Vogue magazines and serves as a love letter to the media and advertisements that shaped me into the artiste and designer I am today.

Tarot Vogue invites users to experience a traditional three-card tarot reading with the addition of high-fashion design elements.

Joyscout App:

Most travel apps are too big without delivering what users really need. Users don’t want to have to do a ton of research – they want an app to know likes and dislikes, make an itinerary that checks all of the boxes, and gives the option to book and keep track of spending in one place.

Joyscout is a travel exploration, planning, and booking app that helps every kind of traveler find joy, no matter where they are in the world. Using your profile preferences, Joyscout builds custom itineraries and offers accurate recommendations, so while we do the planning, you can keep finding your joy.
