DesignRX, Saturday, February 22, 2020 9am–4:15pm
DesignRx is an all day workshop which pairs volunteer Communication Design seniors with junior/senior craft design, art education and fine art “clients” to assist with the design of their visual identity materials. In an afternoon students designers can complete a logo, and possibly a letterhead system or promotional postcards.
Participating artists “clients” must attend a morning workshops that starts at 9:30 A.M. to learn about personal branding and self-promotion from CD volunteer faculty.
The artist and design team should meet in the week before the Saturday workshop to get to know each other’s work and discuss what can be reasonably accomplished in the Saturday afternoon design session.
Coffee, tea, and bagels will be available at 9:00 A.M. Pizza is delivered at 11:30 for working lunch.
Consider signing up to have photos taken of 3–4 small to medium sized art projects. This work must be dropped off first thing that Saturday morning before we begin and is photographed and edited while you are in the workshops.
Artists leave the workshop with a better understanding of the power of graphic design and a start on their personal branding materials.
Communication Design volunteers gain work experience collaborating with interesting clients, get to use stunning imagery, learn to work effectively in a limited time frame and develop unique portfolio pieces.
